Sadly, this country seems to be way more interested in letting unrestricted capitalism flourish and taking us back to the days of the Robber Barons. While at the same time, we are intruding on the privacy and activities of private citizens, snooping into all of our activities, and restricting us more and more. All in the name of "fighting terrorism." When the real terrorists are the big corporations, the extremely wealthy, and their lapdogs in Congress. Zorba
Yep. And I was thinking specifically of Chicago's (under the "leadership" of Rahm Emmanuel) sold off their parking meter revenue to a "consortium" that will mean the public enriches private coffers for street parking for the next...are you ready? For the next 71 years!!! What ISN'T for sale in this country? Peace, D.A.
Not very much isn't for sale in this country, D. Unfortunately. And there does not seem to be a whole hell of a lot of difference between the Democrats and the Republicans in this area. The Dems seem to be a bit ( and I do mean only a bit) more socially "liberal" as far as gay marriage, abortion rights and such is concerned, but when it comes to protecting our poor, hungry, unemployed, and weak against the ravages of unrestricted capitalism, there is not very much difference between the two parties at all. This is why I have been saying for years, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party left me." In any case, my brother, I hope you have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, great Festivus, and so on. Be well, and namaste. Many hugs to you. Zorba
My feelings so precisely, I'd let you write mine any day. Probably why I'm definitely in the lighten up and holidaze mood. We took in a great xmas circus/cabaret at a hole in the wall, third floor theatre in the Mission this afternoon. I love good little black box theatre, it's what I was always surrounded by those few days a month I'd see my father. Peace to the family and friends. D.A.
